addendum to journal 2: the birth and possible death of a petition

This is the font i used quite a bit in the early days of SAFE.  i guess lots of computers don't have AdLib of any variety, but i guess i can end the website like i started it if i want to.

The petition (see here) is the focal point of this addendum; it's conception was at the end of the e-mail i wrote to a men's group at a church, almost an afterthought (see here), in what i called "probably my last take" on el website.

Actually it was years ago that i raised the issue of petitioning churches to substantially raise donations designated to feed the very poor, and nothing ever came of that to my knowledge.

Anyway it was over a year i attended the men's group, and the priest was there more than a few times, and i did, i must say, pursue my agenda whether he was there or not, which i acknowledged in that introductory e-mail to the group.

So we talked finally, me and the priest, about the petition and he said he wanted "goals and objectives" to take to the bishop and we continued with the men's group i believe and i know he continued to occasionally bring communion to my disabled wife.  We have quite a cordial relationship, but the petition is a forbidden subject in effect.  (i had to make an appointment to see him at his office to talk about it.)  Anyway, it was shortly after one of his visits that i finished the letter to him (see here), and mailed it.  i guess i didn't send him but four e-mails over the year-plus that i attended the men's group where, again, i expounded when opportunity presented itself the doctrine that i think is true; a Bible question e-mail had "not the usual" as the subject.  Maybe i'll put them here.  Told him later i couldn't believe i sent him the letter, though i did finally mail the bishop a letter (see here, and a second letter here) which had consequences and resulted in a display of disgust by our new deacon for sure.

It wasn't until after i wrote the archbishop (see here) that the priest said "we aren't going forward," with emphasis on the "we," with the petition. Perhaps my attitude (told him last time i saw him (January 2021) i am a fool and that i like to think of myself as a fool for Christ) is to blame for him being so opposed to the petition.

The e-mail exchange with the new deacon took place some time after that, and it wasn't long (his apparent response precepitated my action) before i wrote cardinal timothy dolan (see here) because he's a celebrity.  (Maybe here is a second letter i started to him, but might only send it by publishing it abroad.)  i guess they are pretty much all alike, the blind leading the blind.

Anyway, this is a page in progress; only activating one link today, August 8, 2020.  Stay tuned for more background...
