February 2, 2011 (continued)
Well, this might be the lamest journal entry ever: I’m putting this in here because I just started a new chapter (epilogue continued, chapter whatever) in my very old journal.
February 3, 2011
Lame lame lame.
Holy Zen Holy (Companion) Bible search was kind of Habbakuk 1:1-5 (again). Ho ho hum.
Oh yeah, wanted to mention a passage in 2 Maccabees that I actually highlighted the other morning. It was about this king torturing Israelites to death because they wouldn’t eat swine’s flesh, and what one of the (soon-to-be) martyrs said to the king. Here it is:

Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.
I won’t say, ‘here’s the speech from 2 Maccabees’ ‘cause it might not be (heavy sigh).
Right again. Here’s
Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice; for the Lord will do great things.
Okay, maybe tomorrow on the Study Bible thing.
toooooMORO tomorrow
I love you
Tomorrow!!!!
You’re always a day aaawwaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy!
Actually, it’s to day (Thursday, February 10, 2011). And here it is:
Well, let me back up a bit (from my highlighted portion) and begin:
And when he was about to die, he said, “Do not deceive yourself in vain. For we are suffering these things on our own account, because of our sins against our God. Therefore astounding things have happened. But do not think you will go unpunished for having tried to fight against God.”
There.
February 18, 2011
Verse 11 continues: Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men . . .
i believe I just wrote that Paul tried to persuade people to possess the terror of the Lord. There, I wrote it again.
February 24, 2011
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment; but the righteous into life eternal.
That’s the King James rendition of
You know, the punishment is everlasting, like you can’t get away, and what you can’t get away from is now. Time time time to see what’s become of you. And then you look at life eternal, and go “Wow, ain’t it grand that nothing ever changes.”
Only of course there are no words in either let’s just call those a place. Just the sound of silence or the lost chord. Heaven or hell.
I still think it’s our choice. In the collective civilization-as-we-know-it sense.
Individually the odds look kind of long for lots of folks.

And when he had called all the people unto
him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of
you, and understand:
15There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can
defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the
man.
16If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
17And when he was entered into the house from the people, his
disciples asked him concerning the parable.
18And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye
not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without
entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
19Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and
goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
20And he said, That which cometh out of the
man, that defileth the man.
21For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts,
adulteries, fornications, murders, 22Thefts, covetousness,
wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
(emphasis mine)
Less than perfect. No, it's much worse than that. Verse 21 is about "the heart of men," our human nature, our desperately wicked ways. Welcome to the club, huh?

Before i like elucidate, let me throw in one more time verse 22: When thou goest, it shall lead thee: when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
Okay, I’m feeling edgy again. Mostly the growing old thing, I suppose. I should say, ‘mostly the growing older thing’. Because I don’t see me changing my lifestyle. And even if I did suddenly revert to like my totally/somewhat healthy approachkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk (i’m snoozing at el computer) . . . okay, my old exercising-anyway way, should I revert to it, we’re still dealing with entropy and we all know something has to give, some time. Some time soon I was tempted to type. That’s the edgy, ya know.
So I’m leaving el web-site alone. My (wud-be) journal I will consider therapy as well as vanity. Like__hello, world. And (perhaps) goodbye.

Here’s a quick one in the middle of a Bible session: I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.
That was red letters in my QuickVerse. Notice how we apply this principle to ourselves to day: unless we are holier than the preachers we ain’t got a prayer hardly.
There were mental notes about journal material (I mostly read in Samuel and Matthew to day), but I suspect they are history. Time will tell.
Oh yeah, the first verse of chapter 5 shows us that this is well into His Primary Vision, at least in my would-be book. Further, He calls His disciples to Himself on the mount and, as far as I’m concerned, was moved by let’s say God in this call it a speech but it was only heard by the disciples. Pretty wild again huh? (Maybe I’ll quit using parentheses.)
My New Testament to day has been in the American Standard Version. And yeah, that first verse made part of my suppositions like crystal clear to me.
God the kids are trying to drive me crazy. (I don’t mind that word a single iota.)
Well, I just finished chapter 7, and I’m not convinced I’m wrong. Okay, Matthew has not much healing, it appears, from the time John baptized Him until the Sermon on the Mount. I will still maintain it was the disciples who heard that Sermon, then the whole krewe starting spreading His Word. And there were the miracles, the healings. And great multitudes followed Him.

Meaning He read Moses’ writings

love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with
joy unspeakable and full of glory (lost people ain’t gonna be rejoicing with
joy unspeakable):
9Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your
souls. 10Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched
diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you(might
better read “the grace that should come upon you, realizing that grace is
the divine influence upon the heart as reflected in the life) 11Searching
what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify,
when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should
follow.
12Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us
they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have
preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which
things the angels desire to look into.
13Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the
end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus
Christ; 14As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according
to the former lusts in your ignorance (don’t forget that most people don’t
have time to overcome “the former lusts”): 15But as he
which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation
(conversation is lifestyle recall); 16Because it is written, Be
ye holy; for I am holy. (an exhortation to inner works)
17And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons
judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here
in fear: (The fear of the Lord
is the beginning of wisdom, the fear of the Lord
is to hate evil, etc.) 18Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not
redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain
conversation received by tradition from your fathers (most people have
conformed to the world); 19But with the precious blood of Christ,
as of a lamb without blemish and without spot (let’s just say without
blame): 20Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of
the world, but was manifest in these last times for you (manifest in these
last times for us), 21Who by him do believe in God, that
raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might
be in God (perhaps there’s still time for changing lifestyles; think how
wonderful it would be if rich people would give enough to change it all).

A note in this Bible says the man of the earth is satan, lending credence to my assertions that the devil is carnal, ordinary mind that continues to oppress the oppressed.
Show mercy to the poor. Forget tithing to the church, send the money where it can do some real good. If we rationalize that nothing will change our situation, we condemn the guiltless.

And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by
parables, and said,
2The kingdom
of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
3And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the
wedding: and they would not come.
4Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are
bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are
killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
5But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his
farm, another to his merchandise:
6And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them
spitefully, and slew them.
7But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent
forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
8Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which
were bidden were not worthy.
9Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid
to the marriage.
10So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together
all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with
guests.
11And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man
which had not on a wedding garment:
12And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having
a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
13Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and
take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping
and gnashing of teeth.
14For many are called, but few are chosen.
15Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle
(Him) in (His)
talk.
Entangle Him in talk, huh?

I started reading Acts today, and in the third verse found: he also showed himself alive after his passion by many proofs . . .
Don’t you really think His passion was coming into Jerusalem and the next morning going into the temple court and turning the tables on . . . them, and that night in the Garden of Gethsemane when He sweat as it were drops of blood and don’t forget that They had two swords and He could call on His Father and He would send Him legions of angels . . . Don’t you really think that His passion went from that morning forward?
It’s Good Friday. Great God! (Please note He is not a good God, He is A Great Spirit of Love.)
Yeah, that one morning at the temple was the same morning He cursed the fig tree, the only recorded curse, huh? Oh yeah, I have no doubt He was accused of cursing people. And the facts of the matter seem to be that He was left with the choice of using His power or becoming subservient to carnal mind. Who knows? Does He recollect His First Coming? Where is He now, and what is He thinking?
10And while they were looking stedfastly into heaven as he went,
behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11who also said, Ye
men of Galilee, why stand ye looking into heaven? this Jesus, who was received
up from you into heaven shall so come in like manner as ye beheld him going into
heaven.
Where does the Bible say about Jesus returning in clouds of great glory I think? Just remember that this Jesus doesn’t look like the Jesus they walked with for three years, think about how a Ghost Spirit might dissolve, like a cloud, when . . . the apparition left the premises so to speak. And think about what I’ve written.
Guess I’m (still) trying to say “He lives!!!” And we still might have time to change it all!
From
Actually, this is about as accurate as I recall for a New Testament effort at quoting the Old Testament. The only reason I show part of it is the bit about “the day of the Lord”; in Joel it says “Lord” but it’s the rest of it, “that great and notable day” of Acts comes from the great and terrible day of Joel.
Maybe the news is we’re gonna get it together and that day will be great and notable, rather than great and terrible.
Oh yeah, I just went back to el computer Bible and remembered that it wasn’t just Lord vs. Lord, but whoever calls on His Name that day will be delivered. Saved. Hallelujah! (And don’t forget that, as far as I’m concerned, my name will be worthless that . . . day.)
How about, “40And with many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, Save yourselves from this crooked generation.”?
From
The reason I added this reading is the way the people “withdrew the shoulder”. It reminded me of the CSI (television series ok?) music that goes “out here in the fields, I fight for my meals; I put my back into my living . . .” You see, we inhabit a strange land, and it’s the strangers God has chosen.
From A Portrait of Jesus, by Joseph Girzone: “Jesus goes on to proclaim that goodness is not in the external observance of commandments, but in the spirit that inspires the proper observance of the Law. . . (Jesus justifying David’s actions) expresses Jesus’ attitude toward law. Law is only a support to guide and assist God’s children. It is not to be an oppressive burden. It must be responsive to human need. (pp. 42-43)”

From the second Psalm:
“Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
”
At first I just put verse 11 in the selection process, you know, to show that it is indeed with fear and trembling that we should serve the Lord, then I read verse 12 and wanted to perhaps repeat myself with more scriptural evidence that it was kiss or be killed that dark morning that I encountered Him.
The second verse also shows how far I am from trusting Him fully, still clinging to my miserable bank accounts and not going further out on a limb to be a good example. (Maybe I’m in a bit more of a forgiving mood lately huh?, what with me talking about being a good example regarding oppressed people.)
Oppressed people. Sound like everybody? No, that’s not the way it is. I guess an astounding thing about this is that so many of the food-oppressed, say, are not outraged.

I suppose one might call spontaneous my remark to Kathleen this morning about leasing meaning selling. You know, buying and selling for profit.
I was thinking about running for some public office on a platform of abolishing money. (hehehe)
Another verse (or two) from Psalms:
Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies. 8 Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping.
Here’s the way I read it: Jesus wept. His
primary vision of food for all consumed Him
in grief. He remembered these
verses during His ministry, had
marked them as important for years I bet, and quoted 8a at critical junctures in
the Gospels (see

No, here’s chapter 43( that was 42 up there): 5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Well, I sit corrected, they’re not duplicate verses, but pretty close. Notice (again) how it goes “I shall yet praise him” while it should read “I shall yet praise Him.”

Reading verse 21 makes me think of preachers in general to day. Kathleen & I

We were reading
“He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” I read that and say (yep, still talking to myself), well, that’s the kind of verse that puts the fear of the Lord in me, ‘cause I sure ain’t righteous.
Just searched Quickverse 2010 for “fear of the Lord” and got 30 hits.

Yeah, there go some possible delusions through my ordinary mind, you know, that this is about me. The sure foundation for our times, huh? A precious stone.
Weellllll I wouldn’t even know a diamond, if I held it in my hand. . . . The things you think are precious, I can’t understand. Steely Dan, from way back. And yeah, I don’t guess I need to scratch glass to tell a diamond.
Again? Tell it again? The song is about not understanding how anybody could consider a diamond precious. And yeah, most folks now understand diamonds can be traded for things like overnight accommodations and hot meals. But I gotta wonder how many natives in South America and Africa are naïve enough to trade land rights for the shiny baubles (and even how many people are hungry enough that they would walk over a street of diamonds to get a loaf of bread

Recently been vainly reading in el journal on el web-site and saw
where I wrote that I was “introduced” to a “Johnny J”. Well, it was afterwards,
possibly days or even weeks later that this common criminal (ROTFL) going by the
name of Johnny Drummond told me maybe “that was Johnny J”, never needing to tell
me who he was talking about, that was the only conversation “we” had (it was him
who did all the talkin’) about the Him who is, I believe, the author of verse 13
in that 33rd chapter of Isaiah, which goes (in the
You who are far away, hear what I have done; you who are near, acknowledge my power!
Powerful is a good word. Yeah, I walked in that kitchen and beheld Him. Stopped me dead in my tracks. The next thing I recall, like I wrote in the journal whenever, I was standing as close to Him as I could get. Oh yeah, we were right up against each other. After our greeting, like I said, that’s it; I seem to recall sitting down on a couch and time resumed.
Yeah, I was actually appalled recently to see I wrote that (how did it go?) I think J would prefer I refer to Himself as him (but I left the Himself out). Anyway, I told Kathleen today (about my seemingly being unable to let go of the fear of the Lord) that I look forward, I’m eager for Judgment Day, but there’s gonna be some fear, some trepidation, knowing a little bit about what approaching my King and my Lord for Him to pass sentence on little ol’ me is gonna be like. Because that was the way I approached Him that night. (Didn’t tell all that to Kathleen, though just to day I told her [again] I believe Jesus has returned as a Man.) Feeling like it was judgment day. Lots of criminal minds about actually. (And yeah, I kind of put criminal minds on my good list, certainly in comparison with other types of minds.)
Anyway, I haven’t written this much in a long time. Oh yeah, Oprah’s new e-mailing list might be good (@ oprah@oprah.com); her e-mail this morning had a pretty neat quote about sadness from a book maybe she said she’s reading. Interviewing for a youth ministry position in his church this dean register said the guy told him he was told he’d be good at it. dean couldn’t believe it. “(Ministry) is too holy a calling,” he said, for someone to try it because they’re good at public speaking.
He actually went on to add, “Tell me GOD called you!” You know, because God called Dean. Definitely not too holy a calling for him.
His second televised sermon this morning I actually left on. He talked about the danger of talking your eye off the bulls-eye of Christ. Right on, dean! Then he talked about people forgetting the prize when something goes wrong. Well, let me tell you, if you’re a member of dean’s church I bet he’ll keep your eye on the prize. Anyone wanna guess what I’m thinkin’ about now? I’m thinking if I die before the world ends, I’d like Him to just take out the top ten percent and see what happens.
