The Lord's Prayer
At this Christian men's group i've been
attending, some of them want me to accept the mercy of God and become one of the
elect. i told one guy, "Get behind me, Satan." Because i think it
would go to my head and my heart. At any rate, i've been tempted to share
with whatever small group i sit with about how i say an Our Father,
so i'll just share it with the whole wide world haha:
Our Father (i like to think "how pretentious of me,
to claim to be a son of God like that"), which art in heaven (i like to think
"who might be
heaven [merely the Spirit of love]"),
Hallowed be Thy Name (i often think of my closest encounter with Holy [see
here]) Thy
Kingdom come, Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in heaven (this is by far the
longest passage in how Jesus told us to pray, and i like to think "surely Your Will is that no child starve to death today and what am i doing about it".);
Give us this day our daily bread (i almost always
think of the proverb which goes "open your eyes and you will be satisfied with
bread"; also maybe note that this could be His primary command to us, to give
daily bread to all and then let them eat meat they earn and actually all this
will be moot should His Kingdom come, good news for the two billion people
surviving abject poverty),
Forgive us our trespasses [better than] we forgive those who
trespass against us (second longest passage, and it puts a condition on the
forgiveness of our sins which i generally request an excuse for), and lead us
not into temptation nor subject us to the final test (the New American Bible
[NAB] is the Catholic translation and both places Jesus says "lead us not into
temptation" it translates "do not subject us to the final test"), but deliver us from evil (i
like to think "please Lord"), for Thine is the Kindom, the power, and the glory
now and forever (though i have been saying the Catholic roasary almost
daily for maybe a year or so and i think the Catholics mostly don't add this, i do because i
think it appropriate and for a little more penance haha).
Amen

And though no one has asked, i'm responding to the interest
(i'm afraid it's mostly critical) by adding how i say a Hail Mary: i am
one voice in myriads and myriads of voices reciting the familiar refrain; my
focus is often on trying to blend my slow Mississippi drawl with the rythm of
the angels in heaven. (And since this might to be the first shift angels
draw in eternity, i'm thinking maybe i can get an excuse.)
Wanted to mention how mind-blowing it is to me to apply the "attention is energy" rule to Mary's experience with God's Own Angel__i mean, how many times has the Hail Mary been said? How many people have put their attention, their energy toward this one young teenager? And how many clues do we have in the Bible that Mary heard every word of the Hail Mary?
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee;
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus;
Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen
