another addendum to journal 2:
a brief look at a church's approach to truth

Today is November 22, 2020.  It's a Sunday.  The priest at the mass we watched live on YouTube said, in his homily, that "we are in the midst of a contentious election" and i thought briefly we were watching something taped before November 3, then realized he was backing Trump's preposterous claims about the election being stolen from him.

i'm gonna send him an e-mail that the election was decided about 2 weeks ago, days before enough results were certified to make it clear who the winner is. (March 28, 2022 note: i got so upset i start here speaking directly to the priest:) And what's this about the importance of truth according to you, i.e., it is one of two things we need, the other being love.  i remember because i wrote the bishop or the archbishop about you saying that (here) in one of your homilies.

And now you ask, apparently, "what is truth?"  We know now it is not a word to be found in your vocabulary.  And you even talked about the preferential treatment accorded the very poor (which, as was pointed out here, was lip service) as being something the Catholic church actually indulges in.

I'm gonna send the priest the link to this page and he will see that i will post his reply right beneath a copy of his e-mail (below).

Hi ****,
Heard you say in your homily today that "we're in the midst of a contentious election" and my first thought was "this was taped before November 3" and my second thought led me to post a new page to my web-site, which can be found at http://www.changeitall.eu5.net/files/addendum2.htm .
Please check it out and reply to this, and also answer the two questions i asked in my e-mail with subject "Bible question."  i'm sure others beside myself would be interested in your answers.
      Vaya con Dios,
joel

Anyway, i'm also activating the link to the first addendum today, in the interests of truth and even futile hope for the petition (and mankind).
